What is
Biodiesel Fuel?
Soylect is a
biodiesel fuel made from 100% pure virgin soybean oil, a renewable
resource, through a refining process called
transesterification. The process requires mixing methanol with
sodium hydroxide, then mixing that with soybean oil, and letting
the glycerin settle. The final products are methyl soyate, and
glycerin.
One bushel of
soybeans produces bout 1.5 gallons of Biodiesel
fuel.
Many municipalities
have run test projects or demonstrations utilizing biodiesel,
including more than 1,000 buses and several million miles with
positive results.
Biodiesel users
include the U.S. Postal Service, the U.S. Department of Energy,
U.S. Department of Agriculture, Ohio State University, Franklin Co.
Board of MRDD, countless school districts, transit authorities,
national parks, and public utility companies.
